The Steller's Jay is a corvid with a crow-like bill (Family: Corvidae, Order:Passeriformes). The jay has a black head with a prominent crest, a blue body, a blue patch on its crown, and black legs and feet. The jays live in flocks.
The Steller's Jay is closely related to Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata), which is distributed east of Rocky mountains.
