The House Sparrow is a small and agile passerine bird. The dorsal part of the house sparrow is brown and ventral part white. The similar looking Tree Sparrow (Passer Montanus) has black patches on the cheeks.
The male house sparrow gets black patches on its chin during its breeding seasons.
